Andrew Power
Managing Partner
Andrew, a solicitor specialising in the practice of corporate finance law, opened Power Law LLP in early 2022. He previously worked for a leading Irish corporate law firm for over thirteen years, serving as Head of its Banking & Finance Department for several years.
In corporate matters Andrew regularly advises businesses, directors, shareholders and investors on a broad range of corporate law matters, including buying and selling businesses, corporate governance advices, shareholder matters, MBO's, private equity and venture capital investments, restructurings and general business law matters.
From a banking and finance perspective, Andrew advises domestic and international companies, financial institutions, investment funds, private investors, high net worth individuals/families and borrowers on a wide range of finance matters with a particular focus on general banking facilities, property finance, acquisition finance, corporate banking, project finance, refinancing and debt restructuring.

Eoin is an experienced dispute resolution solicitor with particular expertise in restructuring and insolvency, commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Eoin advises companies, creditors and insolvency practitioners on corporate and personal insolvency, security enforcement, contentious and non-contentious restructuring and recovery. His practice also covers complex high value commercial disputes, injunctions and company related applications. Eoin also advises corporates and their directors on issues arising in cross border insolvency matters.
Prior to joining Power Law, Eoin spent six years as a senior member of the Restructuring and Insolvency team at one of Ireland’s leading corporate firms. Before that Eoin worked at a “Top 10” Irish law firm and in-house in the NAMA Unit of a “pillar bank”. Eoin is a member of the Technical and Education Committee of Restructuring & Insolvency Ireland and is a recommended lawyer in IFLR1000 2021.

Cathal is a commercial property and construction law specialist and is head of Power Law's Property & Construction Department. Prior to joining Power Law LLP, Cathal acted as a partner in the real estate department of a leading Irish law firm and also worked in the real estate department of a 'Top Five' Irish Corporate firm
Cathal advises Irish and international clients on all aspects of Irish commercial property law. He has extensive experience in sales and acquisitions of commercial property, property finance and development, and real estate aspects of corporate mergers and acquisitions. Cathal also has a particular expertise in commercial leasing transactions, acting for both landlords and tenants in the negotiation of new leases, the assignment / subletting of existing leases and resolution of disputes arising during a tenancy. He works across a broad range of industries, including retail, office, industrial and residential property.
Cathal also acts on contentious and non-contentious construction matters, acting for promoters, construction companies and professionals.

Billy is a solicitor specialising in contentious and non-contentious commercial matters. Prior to joining Power Law, Billy worked in the dispute resolution department one of Ireland’s leading corporate law firms.
Billy advises domestic and international organisations on complex disputes with a particular focus on corporate/ commercial disputes, contentious intellectual property and defamation matters. Billy also has extensive experience in advising private, semi-state and public organisations in the context of regulatory investigations and judicial review.
Billy advises domestic and international organisations on the management of intellectual property portfolios including advices on the registration and licensing of trade marks. Billy also advises on copyright and IP licensing matters.
Billy also has extensive experience in advising public sector and private companies on all aspects of data protection, from initial advices on processing of personal data and data transfers to urgent advices regarding management and containment of data breaches including advices on reputation management and notification strategies in the aftermath of a breach.

Michael Kavanagh

Michael is a litigation, dispute resolution and employment law specialist, with significant experience handling complex, high stakes disputes before the Commercial Court and other divisions of the High Court. He has significant experience in mediation, arbitration adjudication and other forms of dispute resolution.
Prior to joining Power Law LLP, Michael was a partner in the litigation department at a leading Irish corporate law firm from 1998 to 2021 and served a term as chairman of the firm between 2016 and 2020 . He was a member of the management team at his previous firm for over 15 years, led the litigation department from 2014 to 2021 and established and led the employment team for over ten years.
Michael served on the Litigation Committee of the Law Society of Ireland from 2003 to 2019 and was Chairman of the Litigation Committee from 2009 - 2011. He was appointed to serve as a Law Society nominee on the Superior Court Rules Committee.

Ward is a highly respected leading practitioner in the Irish legal profession. having served as president of the Law Society of Ireland in 2001. Ward also served as council member of the Law Society of Ireland for over 25 years, during which time he chaired many of its committees, including Parliamentary, Registrars, and Compensation Fund.
Ward has also held governance roles in other professional organisations including the Chartered Accountants Ireland Disciplinary Board and the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.
